South Africa's national flower, the king protea (Protea cynaroides), can be found on the slopes of the Hottentots-Holland mountain. The nearby Harold Porter Botanical Garden is set between mountain and sea, in the heart of the Cape fynbos region and encompasses a beautiful, secluded garden.
The Hangklip coast is paradise for rock and surf angling. Walk along the Kleinmond main beach to the High Dune - fish from the rocks along the shoreline at Sandown Bay. Catches may be: White Steenbras, Leervis, Kabeljou, Hottentot, Geelbek, Galjoen and Elf.
Kleinmond is part of the Cape Whale Coast – the playground and breeding zone of the ocean giants, namely the Southern Right Whales, which you can observe close-up from many vantage points during the months of June to November.
